Yarn Crawl This Weekend!

I am so susceptible to yarn-y suggestions. Just knowing that it’s the Great Rhody Yarn Crawl this weekend is making me want to visit every store in Rhode Island and buy yarn. Do I need yarn? Absolutely not. Do I have money for yarn? Haha no. Do I have time to shop? HAHAHAHAHAHA no. And yet, the desire is still there.Oh, yarn, you tempting thing.

If you are lucky enough to participate, make sure you print out this passport and get it stamped at every store you visit for chances to win prizes at the culmination ceremony happening on Sunday, April 10th (11 am – 4 pm) at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol. And be sure to stop by and say hello, as Sweet Sheep Body Shoppe will be vending there!

Sweet Sheep goat milk soaps

In addition to the culmination ceremony, there should be some Sweet Sheep goodies stocked at  The Mermaid’s Purl in Wickford, RI for this yarn crawl. Also, a big batch of sheep-shaped soaps is currently winging its way out to California just in tame for a different yarn crawl in a few weeks involving the Creative Ewe, another one of Sweet Sheep’s retailers. These sheep are getting around!

I hope you all have a yarn-filled weekend! I’m sure I’ll report back next week with things I couldn’t stop myself from buying…

Indie Untangled Rhinebeck Trunk Show

While I’m filled with an epic sadness that I will not be at Rhinebeck (my friends keep insisting on planning their weddings in October!) I’m super excited that a sample of my Sweet Sheep Body Shoppe products will be there.

Woolen DiversionsIf you’re lucky enough to be going this year, check out the Indie Untangled Rhinebeck Trunk Show tonight from 5 pm – 7 pm at The Garden Plaza Hotel in Kingston, NY. A whole slew of awesome vendors will be there and I hear there will be giveaway prizes, as well. Get your Rhinebeck splurging started early with the likes of Canon Hand Dyes, June Pryce Fiber Arts, That Clever Clementine, Skeinny Dipping, and Knitspot’s Bare Naked Wools (to name just a few).

Woolen DiversionsI’ve sent up a selection of 10 different lotion bar fragrances (including autumn scents like Frosted Cranberry), 5 lip balm flavors, and 3 different gift sets (the All Natural set that Hunter reviewed, Fall Favorites, and Coffeehouse Specials). I hope some of you can stop by and sniff/sample in person!

And one last thing: I finally got around to setting up an e-newsletter for Sweet Sheep. If you sign up, you’ll receive a coupon code for my shop as a thank you (sometime next week)!

I’m bummed that I won’t be there to say hello and enjoy the festival, but I can’t be too sad that I’m heading off to California to celebrate the marriage of some dear friends! (Even though I can barely fit it in my carry-on, my new camera is packed and ready to take epic photographs of redwood trees, wooohooooo! I am ridiculously excited to see some big trees. BIG TREES!!!)

Have an excellent weekend, wherever you’re spending it. 🙂

Carrying On

Oh boy. I can’t even describe the kinds of busy things have been over here. Suffice it to say: SO BUSY. Busy enough that fewer than 6 hours of sleep a night has been the norm. Busy enough that I haven’t seen the floor of my office or the surface of my kitchen table (things everywhere!) in days. Busy enough that I’ve become a well-oiled (mwahahaha, see what I did there?!) lotion-making machine.

Preliminary booth setup.

There have been 15 batches of lotion made this week, and 150 lip balms last week. There has been a brief-yet-wonderous appearance on the Yarn Harlot’s blog. There have been last-minute, rush orders of cardboard cupcake stands placed. There have been emergency trips to Michael’s and JoAnn’s. There maaaaaay have been some tears and a little tantrum due to exhaustion and frustration (but we’ll move right on past all that). There will yet be extremely-last-minute crafting of signs and display information… but I’m still hoping for an early bedtime.

This show will happen, and it will be wonderful, rain be damned. If you’re in New England, take a little trip over to Bristol to check out the Rhode Island Sheep & Fiber Festival at Coggeshall Historic Farm tomorrow (Saturday, May 17th). The rain should clear up around noon and I promise it will be awesome. Plus, you’ll get to smell all my lotion scents in person! (Which would be worth the drive, I swear.)

There will be no Inspiration Saturday post this week as I’ll be working my tail off vending. Wish me luck! 🙂
